Nelson to Direct Rajini- Kamal - Non Starter ? / Mammootty set for Kerala State Award


 Is Nelson Directing Rajinikanth- Kamal Haasan Film ? Many factors point  out that the possibility is less, as per trade . For one Nelson is said to have started pre production of film with NTR Jr and produced by Nag Vamsi. There is no news that the project has been postponed. Tarak is currently working on Prashanth Neel’s Dragon, and he is also committed to Devara 2 with Koratala Siva. On the other hand, Nelson’s Jailer 2 is going to be released in June 2026, and the director always takes a long time for pre-production. NTR and Nelson’s film was expected to start in early 2027.If the director works on Rajini-Kamal’s multi-starrer after the sequel to Jailer 2, he will be busy till 2027 and can work with NTR in 2028 only. 

NTR is said to have okayed a film with Trivikram and that too is produced by Nag Vamsi. If Nag Vamsi and Nelson have a deal then NTR moves to Trivikram and Nelson to Rajini- Kamal film. So far Nelson is on to NTR film. We has reported that Lokesh is busy with launching himself as hero. Sunar C is said to be in the waiting list of Rajinikanth. Kerala State Film Awards 2024 headed by Actor Prakash Raj is expected to announce thr awards in November. Front runner is Mammootty with Brahmayugam. Asif ali and Vijayraghavan ( Kishkinda Kandam are in the running. In 2022 with Malai Nerathu mayakam and last year he lost it by a whisker to Prithviraj for aadujeevitha, Mammootty’s Kathal was in the running. This year he has an edge. Asif Ali, on the other hand, is yet to win a Kerala State Film Award. The year 2024 saw him in stellar movies such as Kishkindha Kaandam and Thalavan. He was also seen in Level Cross. Though he hasn’t won the award before, he came close in 2019 for his performance in the film, Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha. Fans are hopeful that Asif would finally get the recognition for his craft.

Mammootty, Asif Ali or Fahadh Faasil: Who will win Kerala State Awards?

Ever since reports said that the prestigious Kerala State Film Awards is likely to be declared in the second week of August, speculations are rife on social media about who would the Best Actor Award. Malayalam actor Mammootty, Asif Ali and Fahadh Faasil are among the top contenders. If Mammootty wins, it would be his Kerala State Film Award. But if Asif Ali gets the coveted award, it would be his very first.

Bramayugam

Fans are hopeful that Mammootty could win the award for his stellar performance as Kodumon Potti in Bramayugam . The veteran shed his megastar image and transformed into an ageing patriarch in Rahul Sadasivan’s folklore horror thriller. The film had won the critics’ approval and audience's appreciation. He had secured the award previously for his performance in director Lijo Jose Pellissery’s film Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam in the year 2022. In 2023 also, his name was shortlisted for the award for his performance in the path-breaking film Kaathal – The Core.

Asif Ali, on the other hand, is yet to win a Kerala State Film Award. The year 2024 saw him in stellar movies such as Kishkindha Kaandam and Thalavan. He was also seen in Level Cross. Fahadh Faasil, who floored audiences with his performance as Rangannan in the 2024 hit film Aavesham, could also be in contention for the award. Actor Tovino Thomas, who appeared in triple roles in the film Ajayante Randam Moshanam, was also appreciated for his stunning transformation. Last year, the awards were declared in August, with Prithviraj Sukumaran winning the Best Actor for Aadujeevitham. The iconic Urvashi won the Best Actress award for her moving performance in Ullozhukku.

Actor-director Prakash Raj is the jury chairman for the 2024 Kerala State Film Awards. The state government has issued an order appointing him to the position to head the jury that will decide the awards.
