SK Producers rethink on Budgets / Remembering Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu

 As Madhraasi continues its slide and reaching Rs 100 crore within Tamil Nadu looks impossible. A big drop as Amaran was a Rs 300 cr club film. SK needs to understand that Amaran became a blockbuster not because of him. Excluding Amaran, his market is actually lesser than Dhanush. If Madharaasi fails to beat Kuberaa collections and Idly Kadai beats both Kuberaa and Madharaasi collections, then Dhanush will move to number 5 spot and SK will come down to number 6. SK’s budget range should be 60–80 crores just as Dhanush’s. He can’t move to 165 crores budget within a single blockbuster film. Hopefully Vinayak, VP and Cibi projects, the budgets are controlled.

19 years of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu

 

We say that Vikram is a tribute by Lokesh a fanboy of Kamal . However the only film which one can call as the extraordinary fanboy sambhavam is Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu . . This came just one year after the flop of Mumbai Xpress (Highly underrated), and became one of the biggest modern sensations and comebacks for a Tier 1 star.

SO  much has been  said about the film’s gorgeous content and scene executions, but the  highlight is the beautifully natural work chemistry between director Goutham Menon and actor Kamal Haasan, which shaped the unforgettable scenes we see today.

The best example of this is the iconic Villain Base Infiltration Intro, where Kamal stares into the soul of the villain and asks, “En Kannu Venunnu Kettiya?”  This is really how a fanboy should actually treat his idol

The magical part of this sequence, beyond the execution and cracking performance, is that it was purely improvised. Kamal and GVM approached this film in a way where they discovered it together, scene by scene. And when it came to this particular moment, the entire crew was stunned by Kamal’s complete improv of both dialogues and mannerisms. You can even see the camera adjust at the last second to zoom in on Kamal’s eye.

Through classy direction, brilliant performances, outstanding songs, and- tying it all together- a rock solid script, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu stands as a timeless piece in the stellar decade of Tamil films.

This is one bloody movie which I envy as a Rajini fan! I need a movie like this with the Superstar in a suave detective role and a crime mystery thriller. Vettaiyan could have been that but it took a different path.

The latest buzz is that the Fahadh Faasil  will work with Prem Kumar, the Meiyazhagan director.

Mohanlal to play Saravana Bhavan Annachi / Conjuring beats Indian releases, Anirudh under Fire

Rajagopal, the founder of the globally renowned Saravana Bhavan restaurant chain, which specializes in South Indian cuisine, including dosas. Despite his culinary success, Rajagopal was convicted of murdering a former employee and died in 2019 while facing a life sentence for the crime. 

Unexpectedly, The Conjuring: Last Rites overshadowed all the releases this weekend, emerging as the audience’s first choice to watch. With more than 317K tickets sold in the last 24 hours on BookMyShow, this Hollywood horror film beat the rest in both word-of-mouth and sales. AR Murugadoss’ Madharaasi trailed behind with over 212K tickets sold in the same period.

The final installment of The Conjuring franchise was released in multiple languages, including Telugu, and earned around Rs. 21 crore on day 1, becoming the biggest opening day ever for a Hollywood horror film in India.

A Hollywood movie is leading the way, and it remains to be seen whether Indian films will outshine it today or in the coming days in terms of sales.

Anirudh test work for Madharaasi has received only average response. Fans feel that beyond the film’s own flaws, Anirudh’s music no longer sounds fresh or engaging. Once he could uplift even average films like Jailer with strong background scores, but now doubts are rising about his spark. The BGMs often feel repetitive, missing the creativity that defined his earlier style. Recent tracks have failed to go viral, except Monica from Coolie, which also faded quickly. Projects like Madharaasi, Coolie, Kingdom, Vidamuyaarchi, and Vettaiyan have been widely criticised as mediocre. Anirudh is now under pressure to bounce back. In the coming year, he has several big-ticket films lined up, including Pradeep Ranganathan’s Love Insurance Company, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, Gautam Tinnanuri’s Magic, Nani’s Paradise, and Shah Rukh Khan’s King. These films will test his consistency.

Madharaasi : Treat for action lovers and SK fans. For other’s ??

 Overall Madharaasi is an average action thriller which is better than many biggies in both Kollywood and Tollywood till now like Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Game Changer, Vidaamuyarchi, Thug Life, Coolie, Kingdom.

It is far better than ARM’s last 5 films (Akira, Spyder, Sarkar, Darbar and Sikandar).

But don’t expect a cracker of a film and go. You will be disappointed.

Ravi Mohan in LCU / Madharaasi hopes to be a Coolie in North/ Anushka does a Nayanthara

 The next project from LCU is Benz, with Lawrence playing the lead role and Nivin Pauly appearing as the main villain. Madhavan was onboarded as another lead in this film.

But the latest news in Tamil circles says that Madhavan walks out of this project/LCU due to date issues, and Ravi Mohan is selected as the replacement.

Reportedly, Lokesh Kanagaraj himself has narrated the character and convinced Ravi Mohan to act in Benz, and his character is also said to be continued in the next LCU projects, such as Kaithi 2 and Vikram 2. Ravi Mohan’s addition marks the third star entry into the LCU (Lokesh Kanagaraj Cinematic Universe), with the other two being Lawrence and Nivin Pauly.

Seeing that Coolie collected close to Rs 50 cr in North markets Madharaasi is taking the same route by agreeing to 8 week window for dubbed Hindi version on OTT so that national chains can screen them. Coolie collected this amount in Hindi because Sun Pictures went all out with publicity and plastered Metro trains in Mumbai with film posters and on TV. Madharaasi on other hand has zero publicity and hopes that North markets will receive them. Amaran Hindi got Rs 2.75 cr from 45 days run. Anushka Shetty’s Ghaati is slated for a grand release on September 5. The action drama directed by Krish Jagarlamudi is jointly produced by UV Creations and First Frame Entertainments. The release was postponed multiple times due to pending work, and finally, the movie is now set for release. Rajeev Reddy of First Frame Entertainments has now confirmed that the star actress won’t be attending the promotional events.

“While commencing the project, we discussed all the terms. She clearly informed us about her unavailability for promotions. It’s her personal choice, and we must respect that. She might not attend the pre-release event either. I don’t think it is a big problem. Only an actor of Anushka’s stature can pull off the Sheela character in Ghaati. We can’t imagine anyone other than Anushka in that role,” stated Rajeev Reddy.

The producer also added, “We strongly believe Anushka has the capability to pull audiences to the theatres. We shot the movie in the Andhra-Orissa border. Had we shot in the Telugu states, it would have been difficult to handle the crowd. While we were shooting in a small village in Orissa, about 1000 people came to see Anushka in the wee hours. A lathi charge also took place once. That is the kind of pull Anushka Garu has.”

Actor Ravi Mohan Produces and Stars in ‘BroCode’

 Ravi Mohan turns producer with his upcoming film titled BroCode, in which he also plays the lead role, under the direction of Karthik Yogi.

One of Tamil cinema’s leading stars, Ravi Mohan, will headline the new film BroCode, playing a pivotal protagonist role. The film marks his debut as a producer.

Directed by Karthik Yogi, known for films like Dikkiloona and Vadakkupatti Ramasamy, BroCode will feature Ravi Mohan in the lead role. Acclaimed actor S.J. Suryah also plays a significant character in the film, alongside four leading female actors.

Cinematography is by Kalaiselvan Sivaji, known for his work in Por Thozhil. The music is composed by Harshavardhan, the composer behind hits like Animal and Arjun Reddy. Editing will be handled by Pradeep E. Raghav, and art direction is by A. Rajesh.

Sivakarthikyan with Siruthai Siva and MohanLal / Shame on Prabhas trends

 Sivakarthikeyan is  to choose Siruthai Siva as director. Along with this SK also has not liked the story told by Venkat Prabhu and told him to make changes. Reason being that VP story has resemblance to Doctor subject. So VP and SK project right now looks bleak as Venkat Prabhu doesn’t want to modify as it would kill the soul of the film. So there are possibilities that the project might get dropped. Sathyajothi Films had backed SK- VP film and now whether they will back Siruthai Siva is not known.

Mohanlal after Jilla in which he played father to Thalapthy Vijay is set to play Dad to Sivakarthikeyan in SK24 directed by CIBI. Actor Sivakarthikeyan is reuniting with Don (2022) director Cibi Chakravarthi and Don co-star SJ Suryah on a new movie, which will reportedly have Rashmika Mandanna playing female lead. While official announcements on the project are yet to be out, it has now been revealed that this film is titled Boss. 

The official X page of Prabhas’ Salaar  shared a post related to ceasefire announcement, which faced backlash from netizens. the makers of Salaar created an official page for the movie on X before its release, with an ID – @SalaarTheSaga. Fans used to get updates about the film; even today, the page is very active. Yesterday, after the ceasefire was officially announced, one smart post was shared on the page. Salaar is originally titled ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire‘, so the makers shared a small clip of the title card showing ‘Part 1 – Ceasefire’ on the official X page, thus making a statement about the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan. As soon as the post was shared, it received mostly negative reactions from netizens.

Many thought that the makers of Salaar were using the country’s serious issue to promote their movie. One X user directly targeted Prabhas by writing, “Shame on Prabhas.” One user criticised the production house for the post by saying, “Have some shame @hombalefilms. Use common sense at least.”

Another X user commented, “Shameful, insensitive, lack of respect towards the armed forces. Promoting your movie at such times is absolutely pathetic. Prabhas and gang shameful.”

One netizen said, “Wtf yeah koi tumara promotion ka time nahi h !! Come on yr have some sense in your brain.”

Sivakarthikeyan - Arya in AGS Jude Anthany film / How Nirosha landed Mani Rathinam film ?

Jude Anthany of 2018 film fame directs Sivakarthikeyan- Arya in an AGS Production is the buzz. There were two heroines and they were Nirosha and Lissy. Nirosha is sister of actress Rashika and currently wife of actor Ramki. Lissy married Priyadarshan and has two children. Her daughter Kalyani is a famous actress and son is a VFX specialist. A few years back Lissy and Priyan separated legally. She had a scene in the film where she had to run on the platform to board a moving train and Ramki was standing at the compartment steps. Nirosha slipped while running and would have fallen under the train wheels, if Ramki had not grabbed her and pulled her inside. She suffered injury and Ramki took care of her. Sivakarthikeyan to join Atlee- Allu Arjun / Vijay Devarakonda to replace Nagarjuna in BB Telugu

Following Salman Khan taking to social media slamming Atlee for keeping their idol waiting and then moving to Allu Arjun, a report says that Rajinikanth will give dates only in 2026 for Atlee and Salman film and so Atlee met the latter and apologized for the delay reports Bollywood Hungama. Atlee met Salman a couple of days back and explained the plight. “He explained all the issues to Salman Khan and the superstar was more than okay to wait for a year and team up with Atlee in 2026. He understood that the budgets warrant presence of another superstar and respected Atlee’s decision to make another film before moving on to a project with him. Atlee apologised to Salman for keeping his dates blocked for a year and has promised to return in 2026.” The meeting went off smooth and both Salman and Atlee parted ways on a positive note with a hug. “Salman wished Atlee all the luck for his next with Allu Arjun and also confessed to be a big fan of the work done by the Pushpa star. He also told Atlee to not be apologetic as films getting delayed is the nature of industry.” According to reports from 123Telugu, popular Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan is being considered for this crucial role. He is currently shooting for Parasakthi under Sudha Kongara’s direction. The actor has reportedly requested the director to finish all his portions by May, as he has two other major projects lined up. Sudha Kongara has adjusted the filming schedule accordingly.

Bigg Boss Telugu Season 9 is also changing how contestants are selected. In the past, the show included common people along with celebrities. Parsakthi is Rajendran biopic / Ajith is King of Opening / C Sankaran Nair biopic renamed

Parasakthi film directed by Sudha Kongara is based on the Rajendran the student who lost his life during the anti- Hindi agitation in Tamil Nadu during a police firing against the agitators. The DMK government installed a statue of Rajendran in the Annamalai University. Rajendran body was found with bullet in his forehead, He was laid to rest in his village near Coimbatire. Sivakarthikeyan plats Rajendran in the film and like Amaran, this too is a biopic and here too he is a martyr. Who plays Bhaktavasalam is not known. This is second biopic for Sudha after Irudhi Suttru based on Air Deccan founder Gopinath. There was criticism that Sudha had unnecessarily inserted Periyar photo and create a belief that Gopinath is not from Brahmin community, a distortion of fact. Similarly many incidents were added to give it a filmic touch. In Amarn there was a criticism that hero Mukund’s caste being a Brahmin was totally submerged in the narrative. Yet another aspect is that the then Madurai Collector was T N Seshan who took CM Bhaktavalsam orders seriously and gave police the free hand to resort to firing to put down the agitation. Yet another interesting part is that Congress workers surrounded actor S S Rajendran house as it had a black flag flying. To disperse the crowd, Rajendran fired a few shots from his gun. Many political leaders like Vaiko and other DMK leaders will have to feature in the film narration.

Biopic of lawyer C Sankaran Nair titled Shankara is now Kesari 2. Film has Akshay Kumar, Aanaya Pandey and R Madhavan and release on March 14th. The film is about a defamation case where Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab and architect of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, sued C Sankaran Nair. This trial was a pivotal moment in India’s fight for justice and serves as the core of the film’s plot. Like Kesari was an emotional action film, was about the sacrifice of Sikhs during the pre-Independence era , Kesaro 2 also deals with the brave Sikh community’s contribution and sacrifice against the British and stars Akshay Kumar, who acted in Kesari. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi in his directorial debut, Kesari Chapter 2 aims to reveal pivotal moment in India’s fight for justice and serves as the core of the film’s plot.

Vijay Antony who had got the title Parasakthi from South Indian Film Chamber has questioned how Dawn Pictures the Producers of Sivakarthikeyan Parasakthi got it from Tamil film Producers Council. If the title is renewed by AVM, then South Indian Film Chamber would have asked him to get AVM permission but this did not happen ? So the title validity has lapsed and the AVM letter is just a publicity stunt ? Dawn Pictures even got censor certification for the Parasakthi teaser. Now will censors allow another film with same title from Chamber ?. A similar confusion arose over Jailer title. Sun registered the title in Tamil Film Producers council and a Malayalam film by same nam was registered with Kerala Film Chamber. Both got censored.Similarly Vijay Antony has registred the title Parasakthi with Telugu Council and so also Dwan Pictures. Bollywood Hungama reports ; If sources are to be believed, Priyanka Chopra will walk away with a staggering Rs 30 crores fee, the highest ever paid to a female actor in Hindi cinema, for her female lead in S S Rajamouli’s untitled jungle adventure starring Mahesh Babu.This fee, reportedly less than what Mrs Jonas had asked for, came after months of negotiation between the two teams. “This is why they took so long to announce her participation in the project. She was not willing to budge over her fee, and why should she? Why should only the men actors get double-digit salaries in our films?” a source in the know informed this writer from Hyderabad. Rajnikanth- Anirudh- Nelson crazy salary for Jailer2 / Yukta Pervi South debut

A report claims Nelson’s salary for Jailr2, the director is said to have been paid a staggering 60 crores. If true, this amount places him among the highest-paid Indian directors. His remuneration for the first installment is unknown, but it is learned that Nelson has witnessed a crazy hike in his sum. Coming to Anirudh, the music sensation is already the highest-paid Indian music director, overtaking AR Rahman. Reportedly, he was paid a salary of 10 crores for his music and background music in Jailer. If the rumors are to be believed, he has been paid a whopping 18 crores for Jailer 2, a humongous hike of 80%. For Jailer, Rajinikanth reportedly got a salary of over 100 crores, and after the film’s success, he received an additional amount. Now, going by rumors, his Jailer 2 remuneration is much above 200 crores, which helps him overtake Thalapathy Vijay’s 200 crore salary for The Greatest Of All Time.

Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan recorded a TRP of 11.65 for its Tamil premiere on Sun TV. This is really good as it surpassed Thalapathy Vijay’s by a much bigger margin.The GOAT registered a TRP 7.60 with its ZEE Tamil premiere. Compared to this, Vettaiyan recorded a 53.28% higher rating. While Vettaiyan beat GOAT in Pongal TRP, Amaran of Sivakarthikeyan telecast on Star Vijay had only 8.5 TRP. Worst rating was for Kavin Bloody Beggar on Sun TV and slightly bettar was Vaazhai and Meyiazhagan on Vijay.

Yukta Pervi the Bollywood model and actor makes South debut in the Malayalam - Tamil film Dexter. Rajeev Pillai, the handsome hunk of Mollywood, has played several characters phenomenally. His unique style of acting has made him what he is today. Now, the actor is all set to star in the upcoming film Dexter.
