Actress Namitha joined BJP in the presence of National President J P Nadda. BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao said, “BJP is the future of South Indian Politics. Famous actress Namitha and actor Radha Ravi joined BJP in presence of BJP National Working President Sri JP Nadda in Chennai.”.
Namitha's last release was Pottu in 2019. Reports say that Namitha would act in Balakrishna film directed by Boyapatti Srinu. She acted with him in Simha. She was previously in AIADMK. Her husband denied reports of Namitha having an affair with veteran actor Sarath Babu. Babu was divorced from his second wife Snejalatha Nambiar ( daughter of Late M N Nambiar). His first wife was actress Rama Prabha. Namitha has a Tamil film Miya awaiting release.
