Vidamuyurchi released on February 6. It had a four-day extended opening weekend but failed to make the most of it. In the opening weekend, it earned only 63.25 crores. On Monday, the collection dropped to 3.20 crores, a sharp decline of 88% compared to the opening day’s 27 crores. Compared to Sunday’s 12.50 crores, it dropped 74%.Yesterday, on day 5, Vidaamuyarchi witnessed an upward trend, but it was useless since only 3.35 crores came in. Such jumps won’t take the film anywhere, and its fate is very much sealed. Including Tuesday’s numbers, the total collection at the Indian box office stands at 69.80 crore net. Ajith Kumar starrer is an expensive film with a budget of a whopping 185 crores. Compared to this cost, the film has earned only 69.80 crores, meaning only 37.72% of the total budget has been recovered so far. A huge amount of 115.20 crores is yet to be recovered. It’s clear that Vidaamuyarchi won’t recover its budget and face a box office deficit, thus ending its theatrical journey as a losing affair. Meanwhile, globally, the film has earned 118.84 crore gross in 6 days. It includes 82.36 crore gross from India and 36.48 crore gross from overseas.

We had reported that NTr Jr next with Neel is going to floors next week. It seems that Neel had already started shoot with other actors and that NTR is going to join him. After this will NTR start Devara 2 with Koratala Siva ?, It seems that NTR feels that story told by Nelson of Jailer fame is better. The catch is that if Nelson sequel Jailer 2 dies well , NTR will okay him or else he will go back to Siva. Nelson after having signed Rajinikanth for Jailer was put in pause mode as Beast directed by him got lok of flak from critics. Rajini then had a talk with Sun Pictures and found that the box office collections of Beast was mind blogging. Only after this Jailer took off. VIDAAMUYARCHI BOX OFFICE CURRENT REPORT The movie is struggling at the box office right now. The film collected just 90 crores worldwide in 3 days which is quite low for an Ajith film. It needs to collect 185 crores worldwide to break even with a 92 crores distributors share. The positive is for now no Tamil movie is releasing and Thandel is no where to be seen in Tamil theatres. So Vidaamuyarchi has chances to squeak through and become an average grosser. It would have grossed more than this but the negative WOM spoiled the show. Moral :- Even Thala-Thalapathy movies will struggle to break even if the film receives negative WOM. So either give a high content and quality film or give a mass entertaining film. Don’t mix commercial and content. They are like water and oil. Vettaiyan and Vidamuyarchi kind of movies will only work for actors like Ravi Mohan and VJS with lowering the commercial aspects. People expect Thunivu, Jailer, Leo, GOAT kind of movies which delivers mass cooked scenes with high theatrical moments from tier 1 stars (Rajini, Kamal, Vijay, Ajith). Or else their films would flop. That’s why Mankatha, Aarambam, Veeram, Vedalam, Viswasam, Thunivu worked, and Billa 2, Valimai and Vidaamuyarchi didn’t work for Ajith. Only Vijay understands this trick. Mohanlal’s Barroz tanked at the box office, with a theatre share of just Rs 4 Cr against its whopping Rs 112 Cr budget.Asif Ali’s Rekhachithram is the only superhit in January 2025, fetching Rs 12.5Cr for its producer against Rs 8.5 Cr budget. Movies like Tovino Thomas’ Identity, which is currently streaming on ZEE5, and Basil Joseph’s Pravinkoodu Shappu had burned a big hole in their respective producers’ pockets. While the former was made on a budget of Rs 30 Cr, it returned only Rs 3.5Cr to the producer, while Basil’s film had a theatre share of Rs 4 Cr against its Rs 18.5 Cr budget.Explaining the difference between overall gross collection and theatre share, Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce official and director Anil V Thomas tells us, “The figures that are published by makers are overall gross collection. Preity Mukhundhan joins Ashok Selvan next / Meera Jasmine back in Kannada/ Suriya to give voice for Vijay Devarakonda

Ashok Selvan's next, which is tentatively titled AS23, is all set to be helmed by debutant filmmaker Karthikeyan Ramakrishnan. Also starring Preity Mukhundhan as the female lead, the film went on floors with a pooja ceremony on Sunday. Vignesh Raja, who helmed the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Por Thozhil, has penned the story for the yet-to-be-titled film. The film is backed by Ashok Selvan and Abinaya Selvam under the Happy High Pictures banner. The film marks the banner's sophomore production after Oh My Kadavule (2020). Last seen in Emakku Thozhil Romance, Ashok Selvan currently awaits the release of the Mani Ratnam directorial Thug Life, in which he stars alongside Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan. In the pipeline, he also has Gangs Kuruthi Punal, a Prime Video series with Soundarya Rajinikanth as the creative producer. The teaser for Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming pan-India spy action thriller, tentatively titled VD12, will be released on February 12. Verdict : Overall it is an one time watchable action thriller. Keep your expectations low and you will enjoy it. I am mildly satisfied. I should not cheat my followers who watches movies based on my review. So this will be a very honest review. Positives Ajith Kumar’s electrifying screen presence Trisha’s performance Making First Half love portions Chemistry between Ajith and Trisha Arjun’s fight sequences are very good and still he fights like hell. That’s why he is called Action King Regina Cassandra’s performance Stunt sequences are excellent Anirudh’s BGM and songs (I personally love Thaniye song and Pathikichu) Interval block Technical Aspects like Cinematography (especially Sawadeeka portion), editing etc. Negatives Second half is very much generic and predictable Ajith’s fights are bit mediocre and Ajith actually moves a bit slowly Regina’s flashback is unwanted and bad The first 30 minutes in the first half may not work for hardcore Ajith fans. It is more like Yennai Arinthaal love scenes. Very good scenes but not suitable for Ajith fans (not a negative but a negative for hardcore Ajith fans) Narration and screenplay in second half could have been better Some characters performance like Aarav is underwhelming. It is an okayish watch Will the film become a hit? Possiblities are high. I don’t know what is the budget exactly. Some are saying 250 crores, some are saying 300 crores and some are saying 180 crores. If the budget is between 180–230 crores, there are higher chances of the film to become a success. If the budget is 250 crores, then it will become an AVERAGE-ABOVE AVERAGE grosser. If the budget is 300 crores, then it will be difficult to break even. Overall it is an one time watchable action thriller. Keep your expectations low and you will enjoy it. I am mildly satisfied. But don’t worry Good Bad Ugly will be a real celebration for us.
