SRK says Nayanthara is awesome - Big Directors rejected Thalapathy - Modern Love Chennai

At the Karumegangal kalaigindrana event held in Chennai, SA Chandrasekhar, who is both a director and the father of Thalapathy Vijay, revealed that his son was initially denied opportunities to act by several directors. He disclosed that Bharathiraja, in particular, refused to direct a film with Vijay, and even earlier, when Chandrasekhar himself was aspiring to become a director, he was turned away by Bharathiraja. Instead, he ended up directing movies himself. Chandrasekhar also mentioned that he approached Gautham Menon for a project with Vijay, but that didn't pan out either. Despite these initial rejections, Chandrasekhar expressed gratitude that he was the one who launched Vijay's acting career through his directorial debut. He believes that his son's success as a commercial hero was ultimately part of God's plan, and that it was for the better that he came to him for his launch, given the lack of opportunities from other established directors in the early days.
