Sun Network has decided to pump in Rs 500 cr . Out of this Rs 250 cr would be for its OTT platform Sun NXT as it decides to be a market leader in the South India. It has decided to pump in money to open a Marathi channel in April and go in for spending money on TV serials and web series. Sun has already 5 big ticket movies that it is producing as well as some content driven small budget films.
At present, Amazon, Disney - Hotstar - Zee and Netflix are the four OTT that are in South India as major players. Aha OTT in AP-TS is also strong player.Sun has planned to go in for own commissioned serial production in Tamil. Feb 13 will see Aludu Adhurs go on stream in NXT.
