Yogi Babu is currently shooting in minus degree temperature at Jaisalmer ( Rajasthan) playing Lord Ganesha in the upcoming film Yaanai Mugathan ( a remake of Malayalam film Innu Muthal ). Urvasi and Ramesh Thilak are playing important roles with veteran Hindi actor Uday Shankar ( he plays the same role of a villager from Jaisalmer - Thar desert)Shooting is going on in border areas near Thar. The director says that if one climbs atop a hill, one can see Pakistan.
Director Rejish said that he was scouting for locations for his second film. At that time, Yogi Babu called him and told him that he was keen to play the role of Lord Krishna ( played by Suraj Pops) and as he was deeply a religious man, the film made an impact. Rejish then reworked on the script as now the budget was big. He changed Lord Krishna to Lord Ganesha. He said that instead of narrating the story from the protaganist view, he changed it to Lord Ganesha instead.
The landlord is landlady here and Urvasi plays the role. Urvasi has also been helping Rajesh with the Tamil script. In Malayalam it was a OLA cab driver and here it is an auto driver played by Ramesh Thilak. Bharath Shankar who scored for Mandela starring Yogi is the music director. Music of Mejo Joseph for Malayalam was a hit, especially the Hindi song Mausam sung by Javed Ali ( singer of Hindi Srivalli song in Pushpa). Kartik S Nair is cameraman. Says director - While the Malayalam film was centered around the driver and his discovery of the meaning of God, here the story is told from the point of view of Ganesha, with an important backstory based on Urvashi’s character. This film, like my earlier one, is also about the presence of God and the questions around this, but is more massy and I’ve made it slightly more controversial"
